DIY Professional Hydraulic Dog Grooming Table

DYI Hydraulic Dog Grooming Table

If you’re a pet owner and you’re looking to maximize the convenience, comfort and safety of your dog during their grooming sessions, then creating your own hydraulic dog grooming table is the way to go. Not only is it a great way to save money, but you can also customize it to suit the unique needs of you and your dog.

Grooming tables are essential to every groomer, whether you’re a professional or just a pet owner. They can also be one of the most expensive purchases when starting out as a groomer. Learn how to make your own cost-effective and customized hydraulic dog grooming table that is built to last.

Before beginning the construction of your table, it’s important to ensure that you have all the necessary materials and tools. Once you have everything gathered, the construction process is relatively straightforward. However, there are a few key things to keep in mind that will help make the process go smoothly and result in a high-quality, durable table that will serve you and your dog well for years to come.

An appropriately sized grooming table provides a secure, stable and elevated surface for grooming a dog. This makes the process easier and more efficient for both the dog and the groomer, reducing wear and tear on both bodies.

These are the steps you’ll need to take to create your very own hydraulic dog grooming table and have your dog looking their best in no time.

The tabletop should be made from a sturdy, non slip material, and the base should be secured. The hydraulic mechanism that will be used to raise and lower the table uses a pump to lift and lower the tabletop. The pump requires no electricity to operate as it is operated manually by pushing on a nonslip foot lever to raise or lower the tabletop to suit your preference. If you build the table properly and with quality materials, it will be more durable than some of the expensive options available in the market.

Tools and Materials:

It’s important to keep in mind that building a hydraulic dog grooming table requires some mechanical and technical skills. As far as tools go, to get started you’ll need:

  • Tape measure
  • Saw to cut the wood for the tabletop
  • Being handy with metal work if you’re wanting to extend the surface area of the table top
Here you can see the metal brace we made to extend the size of our tabletop.

You will need a sturdy base, scissor lift hydraulic table.

Once you have all of your materials and tools gathered, you’re ready to start constructing your table. The first step is to cut the tabletop to the desired size. Then, you’ll need to drill holes to attach the tabletop to the hydraulic mechanism. After the holes are drilled, it’s time to start assembling the tabletop. Finish by applying a nonslip, waterproof covering. Attach your clamp, insert the grooming arm, and clasp the noose.

Test the Table:

Test the table to make sure it is working properly and that it is stable and safe for use.

Put the table in the desired position and then use the hydraulic mechanism to raise and lower the tabletop. If everything is working properly, your table is now ready for use.

When you build your own grooming table, you can customize it to suit your specific needs and preferences while tailoring to your dog’s comfort and size. If you have a large or giant breed dog, it’s difficult to find a suitable grooming table that can handle their weight and size, while maneuvering them into the tub; these scissor lift tables are on wheels.

Wheel the table with your dog safely to the tub to save wear and tear on the groomer's body.
Wheel your table outside to groom.
Alloy steel wheels allow to move the table smoothly anywhere.

The elevation of a hydraulic grooming table allows the groomer to work at a comfortable height, reducing strain on the back and shoulders. Lowering the table allows for an easy manner to get your dog on the table.

Riggs demonstrates how low and comfortable this table can go.

The stability and sturdiness of this table as a whole provides a lasting surface for the dog to stand on, which can help to keep the dog still and reduce the risk of injury.

You can take pride in creating something that will be useful for years to come.

Happy grooming!

Synergistically Yours,

Danielle
